Mexico City, Mexico, 4 reales, Charles-Joanna, "Early Series," assayer R (Latin) at bottom between pillars, motto PLVS in rounded panel, NGC VF 35, ex-Potomac Collection (stated on label). Nesmith-6; Cal-115; S-M1; KM-16. 13.42 grams. Large, round flan with bold full legends on both sides (even the borders of dots outside the legends are visible), the assayer and denomination also very bold, with deep toning throughout, a lovely example all around for the grade. NGC #4762849-001. From the Potomac Collection, and pedigreed to the Pat Johnson Rare Coins sale of April 1972 (lot #13).
