MEXICO, Mexico City, cob 1 real, Philip III, assayer F (pre-dated type), reverse struck from a ½-real die, unique, NGC AU 53. S-M12a; KM-27.1; Cal-482. 2.97 grams. Very bold strike on a broad flan, the full cross-lions-castles and shield exceptionally well detailed plus clear oMF and denomination I, also with part of GRATIA visible, the reverse legend (with figure-eight stop) complete as the smaller ½R design (first we have seen), richly toned all over.
