Impressively heavy medal commemorating the life of statesman Daniel Webster, who died in 1852; designed by Charles Cushing Wright, famous for his Declaration of Independence medals struck around the same time (see prior lot). Obverse: bust of Daniel Webster facing right, DANIEL WEBSTER. flanking, C.C.WRIGHT. D & F. below, rope edge. Reverse: globe atop pillar, I STILL LIVE at base, classical buildings in background, LIBERTY AND UNION, NOW AND FOREVER, ONE AND INSEPARABLE. above, MEADE.BROS.DAG: and F.W.GREEN.
