USA (San Francisco mint), gold $20 coronet Liberty "double eagle," 1857-S, bold S, PCGS MS62 / Ship of Gold special presentation case with pinch of gold. 8" x 8" x 2-1/2" (box) From the second SS Central America salvage operation. Smooth, original surfaces with faint bagmarks, quite nice for the assigned grade, lustrous and non-toned. Pinch of gold dust is made of smaller, finer gold. PCGS #35329639 (label signed by Bob Evans, chief scientist of the operation). Housed in special presentation case with certificate signed by the founder of PCGS, David Hall. Recovered from: S.S. Central America, sunk in 1857 in deep water off North Carolina
