UNITED STATES, mints uncertain, clump of seven Seated Liberty half dollars from the S.S. Republic (1865), very rare provenance. 97.05 grams total. roughly 2" x 1½" x ¾". A tight, leaning stack of seven solid Seated Liberty half dollars held together by a chunk of orange encrustation, the coins essentially as stored aboard the ship prior to sinking, with top coin featuring a lightly encrusted yet visible obverse with barely legible 1860s date (final digit unclear) while two others in the stack also show partial details, a rare artifact as most of the coins recovered from this wreck were thoroughly cleaned, slabbed, and sold individually. With original certificate (generic). Recovered from: S.S. Republic, sunk in 1865 off Georgia
