Large pin with Uncle Sam dancing with a patriotic woman, "CARNIVAL AND STREET FAIR" above and "A HOT TIME IN THE OLD TOWN" below; large pin with Uncle Sam and woman dancing; Large pin with soldiers greasing railroad tracks with soap, "WHO GREASED THE DUMMY?" "1st W.VA. & 6th OHIO" "A HOT TIME" above and "SNAKES & BUCKEYES" "HALLOWEEN NIGHT AT KNOXVILLE" below. The song "A Hot Time in the Old Town" was a popular American song for both civilians and the military during the Spanish American War. The third medal depicting the 1st W. Va. & 6th Ohio refers to those two Army units' stay at Camp Poland outside of Knoxville in October 1898 and the antics they got into as the war drew to a close.
