UNITED STATES, Philadelphia mint, Gobrecht pattern Seated Liberty dollar, 1836, name on base, plain edge, PCGS PR Genuine AU detail / devices outlined. Judd-60; Pollock-65 (R.1). Die alignment I. This rare and important Gobrecht pattern silver dollar is among the final 600 struck in the last week of December 1836 at the Philadelphia Mint, as indicated by the straight die-clash line above the eagle's wing, with bold AU design elements, ample luster achieving a slight mirror-like quality in the fields on both sides, and traces of warm, faint, red toning. Some inexplicable tracing was done along Liberty's left leg and just above the eagle's wings; a few other scattered marks and surfaces hairlines are noted in the fields.
