Two fragments of a bronze compass ring. 50.4 grams, 5-1/2" long in total. One long piece and one short one, both with numeric scale visible, once the outer ring of a large compass of a design known as an overhead or "tell-tale" compass that hung above the captain's bunk, which in this case means it was probably the one being used when the ship struck the rocks, desirable pedigree. Pedigreed to the Roland Morris Museum (David Lay auction of May 22, 2002), with World Treasure Books photo-certificate. Recovered from: Association, sunk in 1707 off the Scilly Isles, southwest of England.
