Transverse slice of large copper ingot number 76, 195 grams, ex-Atocha (1622). 8½" long x 1¾" wide. Perfect for display, this neat slice of a copper ingot from the wreck shows off all the voids and streaks found inside these crudely poured yet apparently high-fineness bars (XRF: 99.6% copper). The outer edges are uncleaned and crusty as found while the inner copper is bright red, illustrating how the corroded and unremarkable complete ingots from this famous shipwreck actually contain high-grade copper inside. From the Atocha (1622), with original Fisher photo-certificate 85A-C103603.
