Spanish-American War brass-hilt sword dated 1898, made in Toledo, Spain. 1094 grams. Blade 27½" long, 1¼" at its widest; hilt 5¼" x 4¾". Bright steel blade with deeply stamped marking ARTA FABA [Artillería Fábrica] DE TOLEDO 1898, fairly clean except for a couple areas of surface rusting, the simple, D-shaped, rib-gripped brass hilt a French model-1808 design and nicely aged without damage. Pedigreed to Sedwick Auction 16 (lot 1080), with photocopy of photo-certificate.
