Small silver "plata corriente" piece cut from a "splash" ingot with partial tax stamp, 19.08 grams, ex-Ponte, García-Barneche Plate. Roughly 1" x ¾". Odd, thick chunk with one edge rounded from the shape of the original ingot, the other sides crude and harboring sediment, clear partial tax stamp with -VS D G of legend visible, clearly worn from circulation in its time (1500s) as a something like a 6 reales (by weight). Pedigreed to the Luis R. Ponte Collection and Sedwick Auction 20, with original lot-tag 224, and plated on page 23 of Agustín García-Barneche's The "Tumbaga" Saga, 2nd ed. (2018).
