Small pewter plate, ex-"Tobermory Galleon" of the Spanish Armada (1588), ex-Browett & Taylor (1912). 490 grams. 8½" in diameter, 1" deep. Simple, dark gray pewter plate without stamps or markings, a wire holder affixed from the back perhaps to hang it, salvaged from the Spanish Armada galleon San Juan de Sicilia which sank near the Isle of Mull in Scotland in 1588 and found by Colonel Mackenzie Foss in the early 1900s after many previous salvage attempts over the centuries. This is the first artifact we have handled from this wreck. Pedigreed to the "Tobermory Galleon" (1588 Spanish Armada) and the Browett & Taylor auction of 1912 (lot 47), with photo-certificate and packet of information.
