Small iron "Nuremburg" chest, probably 1600s, with key. 5.2 lbs (2383 grams) total. 10½" x 5" x 5½". A sturdy, intact chest of classic design with functional two-bolt locking mechanism under the lid featuring small, gold-leaved rosette ornaments covering two pins, the outside with small, rounded handles on either side, four spherical feet on bottom, all with dark brown-black patina except for bright orange paint on the inside. We have sold several large chests of this design, but this is the first one in such a small format, no doubt designed to be a portable "money box" as opposed to a stationary safe.
