Small bronze cannon (1800s?), a miniaturized replica of the famous 1533 Portuguese "Tiger" cannon located at Fort St. George (or St. Martin) at Diu, India. 3386 grams, 12-1/2" long and 2-1/2" in diameter. This piece is visibly old, with elegant patina and lightly worn details, its Latin wording on top (dated 1533) and Portuguese design (arms, lion, etc.) identical to a well-known cannon of massive size in a museum in India. In addition to the design on top, the cascabel end shows a grotesque face, and the touchhole and trunnions are intact. All in all, a very comely antique, but not an original from 1533.
