SPAIN, Seville, lot of two cob 8 reales, Philip II, assayer Gothic D at 4 o'clock outside tressure on reverse. Cal-720. 23.39 and 21.19 grams. One coin with choice full shield and cross and smooth surfaces, the other with some heavy corrosion around edge but still with full shield and cross (the latter slightly doubled), both nicely toned. Pedigreed to the Steve Valentine Collection, with original certificate from the salvor/conservator. Recovered from: Santiago, sunk in 1585 off Bassas da India in the Indian Ocean
