SPAIN, Seville, gold milled 8 escudos, Philip V, 1714 M, NGC MS 65, finest known in NGC census. Cal-2284; KM-260; Fr-247. A very lustrous and pristine coin with satin-smooth fields and razor-sharp details indicative of not just careful preservation but also likely from the first few strikes with fresh dies, also fairly well centered with full reverse rim and most of the obverse rim, among the top 2% of NGC-graded coins of ALL Spanish 8 escudos (all types, 1600s to 1800s), an exceptional trophy with the look of a specially prepared and immaculately preserved time capsule that avoided 300 years of outside contact.
