SPAIN, Seville, gold cob 2 escudos, Philip III, assayer not visible, mounted shield-side out in heavy 18K pendant with large shackle bail with diamonds and sapphires by Smith's of Cayman. 28.20 grams total. Ornate, hefty and elegant setting with lots of small, sparkly diamonds, two small sapphires and a thick, round and high-karat gold bezel with sturdy prongs, the mounted coin not the main attraction with cross side struck off-center, legends not visible, and set at an angle, an impressive piece of jewelry nonetheless.
