SPAIN, Seville, gold cob 2 escudos, Philip III, assayer B, NGC XF 40, ex-Kempen Hoard. 6.74 grams. The Kempen Hoard was buried in the early 1600s and comprised of coins dating back as much as over a century and a half prior from various European nations at the time. Crude yet boldly struck piece with nearly complete shield and cross, clear mintmark, assayer, and denomination, partial legends. Note: coin is loose in holder (can be fixed by NGC). Pedigreed to the Kempen Treasure Hoard (stated on label).
