SPAIN, Seville, cob 8 reales, Philip II, assayer Gothic D at 4 o'clock outside tressure on reverse. Cal-720. 25.38 grams. Broad flan with particularly nice full crown, nearly full shield and cross except for flat area (unevenly thick) to one side (and mintmark not visible as a result), full denomination and king's name, minimal corrosion, attractively toned. Pedigreed to the Steve Valentine Collection, with original certificate from the salvor/conservator. Recovered from: Santiago, sunk in 1585 off Bassas da India in the Indian Ocean
