SPAIN, Madrid, bust 4 reales, Philip V, 1709, rare, National Geographic plate. Cal-Type 136; KM-278. 9.92 grams. A rare one-year type, almost certainly the only example from this wreck, with bust of king (flat in center) above remarkably clear date, heavily pitted on reverse, but still round with edge practically intact (full obverse rim), bright silver in color from cleaning, highly desirable as plated in National Geographic. Plated on page 852 of "Graveyard of the Quicksilver Galleons" by Mendel Peterson in the December 1979 issue of National Geographic, with copy of the article signed by Captain Tracy Bowden and original certificate through his contract with the Dominican Republic. Recovered from: Guadalupe and Tolosa, sunk in 1724 off Samaná Bay, Dominican Republic
