Roman Empire, AR cistophorus, Augustus, 27 BC to 14 AD, mounted head-side out in silver bezel with 18K gold prongs and shackle bail. 18.44 grams total. Bare head right / Altar decorated with fillets, garlands, and stags standing facing (BMC-66). Attractive setting with custom rounded silver bezel, coin affixed by three gold triple-wire prongs. Fine with toning around somewhat soft inner details but IMP CAESAR and AUGUSTUS clearly visible, important coin as from the reign of the first Roman emperor. With photo-certificate.
