Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, 8 reales, Type I countermark (1838, rare) on cross side of a Mexico City, Mexico, cob 8 reales, (171)4(J). ex-Richard Stuart. KM-unl (cf 77.7). 25.69 grams. Full XF countermark, the AVF host mostly flat but with one castle and one lion choice and full and with just enough of the last digit of the date to be sure (new style), nicely toned all over. Interestingly, KM lists only the later issues of Philip V for this type (1729-33). Pedigreed to the Richard Stuart collection.
