Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, 4 reales, Type I countermark (1838, rare) on cross side of a Mexico City, Mexico, klippe 4 reales, 1733F. KM-unl. 12.77 grams. Full and bold countermark (slightly crude due to strength of undercoin detail) in upper-left quadrant of off-center cross on host that has a full oMF and clear bottoms of date next to nearly full crown, deeply toned VF+ with hole in one point at top of cross (rhomboid flan), possibly lightly shaved long ago. Pedigreed to the Ponterio auction of April 2007, with original lot-tag #2294 (trimmed).
