Potosi, Bolivia, cob 8 reales, Philip IV (1630s or 40s), assayer not visible, rare provenance. KM-17a. 20.30 grams. Most of shield and cross despite peripheral flatness and all-over corrosion, spotty toning, one of very few coins available from this wreck. With Sedwick photo-certificate from 2010, and pedigreed to our Auction #7, with original lot-tag #273. Recovered from: "San Francisco wreck," sunk ca. 1647 off the Cape Verde Islands
