Potosi, Bolivia, cob 8 reales, Philip III, assayer not visible, quadrants of cross transposed, Grade 2, ex-Santa Margarita (1622), mounted in twisted-wire silver bezel with 14K gold prongs and bail with emerald in front. 28.99 grams total. Most of cross and shield with corrosion only around edge, interesting bezel with sturdy prongs and bail, oriented with cross turned slightly counterclockwise. From the Santa Margarita (1622), with Fisher photo-certificate #8207 and pedigreed to our Auction #14 (lot #388).
