Potosi, Bolivia, cob 8 reales, Philip II, assayer M (very rare second assayer of the mint), Grade 1. S-P2; KM-5.1; CT-141 (under Lima). 26.15 grams. Typically broad flan with full inner details and nearly full crown and legends including clear (diagnostic) DEI,G,ISPANIARVM, the assayer also full, with minimal surface corrosion and nice toning in crevices, just a little double-struck, overall a rival in quality for non-wreck specimens, of which there are not many, as full-scale production of 8R did not happen until assayer B, a clear candidate for a second "Atocha Research Collection," if one is ever formed. With Fisher tag and certificate #204903 and Mel Fisher's appraisal for $14,500. Recovered from: Atocha, sunk in 1622 west of Key West, Florida
