Potosi, Bolivia, cob 8 reales, 1727Y, Louis I, rare issue and very rare provenance. 26.10 grams. Darkly toned but solid and corrosion-free, with bold central details, three dates, very small parts of king's name and ordinal in legend, very rare wreck that typically yielded small artifacts and not coins. Pedigreed to the Thomas Gray collection and formerly displayed at the ANA Money Museum's "Treasures of the Deep" exhibit (2014-15), also pedigreed to our Auction #10, with original lot-tag #454. Recovered from: Sea Horse, sunk in 1728 in the River Plate off Uruguay
