Potosi, Bolivia, cob 8 reales, (1652E) transitional Type I, very rare, from the Capitana (1654). S-P37; KM-A20.1; CT-unl. 22.88 grams. Choice full crown above pillars with clear F-8-IIII and motto above waves, full but doubled shield with bold A-P-8 to left, hence the rare first Type very clear despite moderate corrosion and some loss on edge, nicely toned Fine otherwise. Mastalir notes that this is one of only five known examples of "die 1" for this Type. Pedigreed to the Roberto Mastalir collection, #I-A(1)5 in his book (page 52), from the Capitana (1654), with Herman Moro certificate.
