Potosi, Bolivia, cob 8 reales, (16)50O, with crowned-F countermark (four dots) on shield. S-P35; KM-19b; Cal-1488. 26.32 grams. Solid flan with full inner details and much legend, including clear 50 of date, also very bold countermark, all deeply toned. The mintmark-assayer P-O to left is clear, as is a bold denomination 8 to right, below which should be a second assayer O, but this coin either never had that O (which Mastalir calls the "missing link" between 1649 and 1650, unique to this one coin so far) or the O was lost in a jumble of double-striking in evidence on that side. With certificate from the salvagers (Moro).Recovered from: Capitana, sunk in 1654 off Chanduy, Ecuador
