Potosi, Bolivia, cob 8 reales, •1•6•5•(0•) modern 5, assayer O, with crude lions-and-castles countermark (unique) on cross. S-P35; KM-unl.; CT-unl. 24.54 grams. First example we have seen of this countermark (missing in all published collections so far) showing indigenous-style lions and castles without a border, full and bold in very center of full cross, full shield with bold assayer to left, light toning, minimal corrosion but much flatness (as made). From the Maravillas Research Collection of Countermarked Potosi Cobs, with Marex certificate and tag #0127. Recovered from: Maravillas, sunk in 1656 off Grand Bahama Island
