Potosi, Bolivia, cob 2 reales Royal (galano), 1650 O, with arms countermark on reverse, unique. S-P35; KM-unl; Cal-unl. 7.06 grams. To anyone who studies the Potosi shield-type series, this coin is almost mythical, as it is unprecedented both as a 2R Royal and as a countermarked 2R. It is perfectly round and actually overweight, with nearly full legends (clear bottom half of date) and complete inner details (two bold assayers) in Fine grade with some old scratches in flat areas but all nicely contrasting with dark toning in crevices, the inevitable hole placed to right of the cross, with distinct partial arc of dot-border around a column of three dots from the side of an arms countermark (Mastalir ASa) to the left of the cross. By our records, this is the ONLY shield-type Potosi Royal known in 2 reales.
