PERU, Lima, gold cob 8 escudos, 1712 M, flipover double-strike, NGC MS 64 (1715 Fleet Shipwreck Label), ex-McGregor. S-L28; Cal-2120; KM-38.2; Fr-7. 26.83 grams. Very rich in color and choice in grade, with 100% full interior details and lots of legend on a broad flan, perhaps most interesting for the fact that D.G. from the cross side appears above the crown on the pillars side and NDIAR from the pillars side appears at about 9-12 o'clock on the cross side due to a rare flipover double-strike, also with very bold full PHILIPPVS and bold full 712 second date in the legend. From the 1715 Fleet, with Philip Flemming photo-certificate, pedigreed to the McGregor Collection (stated on label).
