PERU, Lima, gold bust 4 escudos, Charles III, 1765 JM, second bust ("rat nose"), very rare, NGC XF 45, ex-Eliasberg, ex-Almenara. Cal-1750; Fr-27b, KM-71.1. Rich red toning in legends, muted luster, full details despite wear on bust (arguably AU 50 on a better day), which has a curious struck-through-fiber error on the face, a rare four-year type that only occurs in 8E and 4E from this mint, this 4E type described as "missing from most collections in any condition" in Eliasberg. Pedigreed to the Eliasberg Collection (American Numismatic Rarities auction of April 2005, lot 3478) and to the Almenara Collection (both stated on label).
