PERU, Lima, gold bust 4 escudos, Charles III, 1762 JM, first bust, very rare, NGC AU details / bent, obv spot removed, ex-Caballero, ex-Almenara. Cal-1747; Fr-25; KM-67. Rich gold color and fully detailed strike with hints of luster and toning, minor marks and light wear only, long old scratch on bust and with slight bend in flan, a two-year type so rare that Friedberg uncharacteristically gives no values, this coin featured on an entire page in the Caballero catalog, which points out that this ephemeral bust was the same used on Lima's proclamation medals. Pedigreed to the Caballero de las Indias Collection (Aureo & Calicó auction of April 2009, lot 603) and to the Almenara Collection (both stated on label).
