PERU, Lima, gold bust 2 escudos, Charles III, 1762/1 JM, first bust, very rare, NGC AU details / cleaned, finest and only example in NGC census, ex-Caballero, ex-Almenara. Cal-1511; Fr-26; KM-66. Fully detailed strike but with incomplete rims (as made), some hairlines and minor marks all over, still a very high-quality example of this very elusive two-year type, the overdate here curiously covering both dates in one coin!. Pedigreed to the Caballero de las Yndias Collection (Aureo & Calicó auction of April 2009, lot 600) and to the Almenara Collection (both stated on label).
