PERU, Lima, gold bust 1 escudo, Ferdinand VII transitional ("imaginary" bust), 1810 JP, very rare, NGC XF 40, ex-Clapp, ex-Eliasberg, ex-Almenara. Cal-1496; Fr-47; KM-110. Good luster, the distinctive bust just slightly weak (in fact probably closer to AU grade), traces of encrustation in crevices and very minor natural flaw in field in front of face, desirable pedigree. Pedigreed to the Eliasberg Collection (American Numismatic Rarities auction of April 2005, lot 3509, acquired from the J. Clapp Estate in 1942), and to the Almenara Collection (both stated on label).
