PERU, Lima, cob ½ real, 1740/39 V, unique. S-L22; KM-unl (30a for type); Cal-unl (Type 48). 1.81 grams. Strange coin with three(!) dates (clear bottom of 40 in legend, 740 with 3/4—NOT 4/3—in middle below monogram, and 739 with re-punched 9 below cross), first we have seen and quite rare as from a shipwreck, bent along edge though with no significant corrosion. With original photo-certificate from the salvor. Recovered from: HMS Assurance, sunk in 1753 off Isle of Wight, south of England
