PERU, Lima, cob 8 reales, 1706 R, row of three dots at top, rare, ex-Ugaz, Vico-Segarra Plate. S-L16; KM-34; Cal-1279. 26.27 grams. Good full cross-lions-castles and pillars-and-waves, richly tone but somewhat softly struck VF+ with two dates and all three mintmarks and assayers, a rare and desirable one-year issue (apparently the first we have offered at auction in this denomination). Pedigreed to the Jorge Ugaz Collection, also Plate Coin on page 57 of Vico & Segarra's book Acuñaciones de la Casa de Borbón (185).
