PERU, Lima, cob 4 reales, Philip II, assayer Diego de la Torre, *-o-iiii to left, P-oD/X to right, 8R-sized lions, very rare, ex-Ponte. S-L4; KM-11; Cal-unl (Type 157). 13.49 grams. Broad flan with most of legends bold (some flat areas), nearly full crown, full but partially weak cross and shield with bold denomination to left and clear P-oD/X to right, oversized lions that had to be rotated to fit in the quadrants of cross (which is slightly doubled), lightly toned AVF. Specialists might be interested to note that all 4R oD/X appear to have HISPANIARVM with H, as this coin shows well. Pedigreed to the Luis R. Ponte Collection.
