PERU, Lima, brass uniface obverse trial strike for gold bust 1 escudo, Charles III, 1767, third bust, unique, NGC PF 65, finest and only example in NGC census, ex-Almenara. Dark brassy color with much luster, choice full details and rim, practically no marks and minimal spottiness for the grade, the first and only example we have heard of featuring the new third bust of Charles III (what Calicó calls second "rat nose" type) showing early armor and drapery but older head, a match for the 4-escudos trial in this same auction (lot 1217). Pedigreed to the Almenara Collection (stated on label).
