PERU, Lima, 1 real, Philip II, assayer X to left, legends uncertain, motto P-LV-S, extremely rare, ex-Ugaz. S-L2; KM-6; Cal-unl (Type 80). 1.68 grams. Nearly full shield with bold (tiny) X or possibly X/R to left, flat area to right, full but off-center pillars, toned Fine details but all a bit corroded and with small parts of edge bent over, also with clear error N for M at the end of HISPANIARVM. It is quite possible this is the only example of assayer X known on this type and denomination. Pedigreed to the Jorge Ugaz Collection, Sedwick Auction 16 (lot 475), and the Ponterio auction of April 2003 (lot 2725).
