Oval gold brooch frame and detached pin, ex-S.S. Central America (1857). 8 grams total. 2" x 1½" oval. A very well-preserved—as pretty as the day it was made—small gold oval brooch frame with petite rope design around perimeter and 1¾"-long pin for attaching to a garment, loop on one side and hinge on the other, XRF tested at 16K gold (solid). From the S.S. Central America (1857), pedigreed to the Holabird auction of March 2023, with small certificate and lot card and packaging (lot 149453).
