Original (late 1600s) large map of the Greater Antilles by Vincenzo Maria Coronelli entitled “Isole Antili, La Cuba e la Spagnuola." 12" X 8" map, 17½" x 13" overall dimensions. Large copperplate-engraved map depicting the Greater Antilles, including Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and numerous surrounding islands throughout the Caribbean. Finely engraved coastlines with interior place names and navigational references across the surrounding seas. Decorative title cartouche at right reading: “Isole Antili, La Cuba e la Spagnuola Descritte e Dedicate Dal Padre Maestro Coronelli Lettore e Cosmografo della Serenissima Repubblica di Venetia All’Illustrissimo S. Sebastiano Bernardo fu dell’Ecc. S. Francesco.”

Engraved by Vincenzo Maria Coronelli, the renowned Venetian cosmographer whose maps formed the foundation of the Atlante Veneto and related cartographic works documenting European knowledge of the Caribbean in the late 17th century.

In original hand-colored condition as seen with folds as issued, areas of toning, staining, and surface wear, some discoloration and handling marks including marginal ink notation at right. Overall a visually appealing example of Coronelli’s mapping of the Spanish Caribbean.
