NICARAGUA, León, 1 real, liberty cap countermark (1824-25) on a Tegucigalpa, Honduras, provisional "imitation cob" 1 real, 1824 Y, retrograde lions, rare, NGC VF 30 / c/s VF standard (Richard Stuart Collection Label). KM-unl; Jara-pp. 33-34. 2.43 grams. Bold full countermark covering bottom-right quadrant of the host's very bold full cross with bold date below, the slightly off-center pillars nearly full and showing clear date and assayer Y above waves, a distinctive variety lacking the usual P or M in the other three corners as seen on other “PMPY” issues, making it one of the rarest types of the already elusive provisional Honduran series, with strong overall eye appeal from rich old toning all over. Pedigreed to the Richard Stuart Collection.
