Mexico City, Mexico, cob 8 reales, Philip V, assayer R (1729-30), with countermark "Sumenep" in Malay Arabic script in box plus cross-and-four-dots-in-circle countermark on reverse for circulation on Madura Island, Indonesia (1 real batu, 1814), NGC VF details / chopmarked, graffiti, c/s XF standard. Host: S-M24; KM-47a. 26.59 grams. Neatly square-shaped flan with good full shield and nearly full cross, clear assayer R, bold full countermarks near edge plus deep chopmark to left of REX, faint scratches here and there ("graffiti"). Pedigreed to the Clyde Hubbard Collection, with his original tag/envelope, and to the Ponterio Auction of May 1988, with original lot-tag 218. Please use this link to verify the certification number
