Mexico City, Mexico, cob 8 reales, 1632/1 D, unique, NGC VF details / rev damage. S-M18a; KM-unl (45 for type); Cal-unl. 26.65 grams. Off-axis "fat barrel" shape with 100% full final three digits of the date, which at first seems like an "obvious" 634 with clear 4/3, but closer examination combined with an early 1630s cross-style (exaggerated fleur-tips) reveals it to be 632/1 instead (first we have seen or heard of), also full mintmark oM and most of assayer D (label says assayer P in error, in addition to erroneously giving the date as 1634/3), with much peripheral flatness but some shield and most of cross, lightly toned, small gouge near reverse edge. Pedigreed to the Clyde Hubbard Collection, with his original tag/envelope. Please use this link to verify the certification number
