Mexico City, Mexico, cob 8 reales, (1)725D, very rare (possibly Louis I), with Indonesian countermark. S-M23; KM-49; CT-18. 25.8 grams. Bold 25 of date, full oMD, nearly full crown, otherwise mostly flat (rainbow-toned Fine), with what appears to be a test-mark (an old gouge in the center of the cross that breaches the other side) in addition to a scratched X and a countermark of the date AH1230 (1814-15) in Arabic, commonly attributed to Sumenep (Madura Island) in Indonesia, a fascinating coin with interest in several areas. Pedigreed to the John Pullin collection.
