Mexico City, Mexico, bust 8 reales, Charles III, 1786FM. 24.61 grams. Nicely toned, XF details with very light surface corrosion only, the rims particularly bold. Pedigreed to the Thomas Gray collection and formerly displayed at the ANA Money Museum's "Treasures of the Deep" exhibit (2014-15), also pedigreed to our Auction #11, with original lot-tag #591 and certificate from the salvager (Robert Stenuit). Recovered from: Athenienne, sunk in 1806 off Sicily in the Mediterranean
