Mexico City, Mexico, 4 reales, Charles-Joanna, "Early Series," assayer R, PLVS in rounded panel, NGC AU 50. Nesmith-6c/6a; Cal-115; S-M1; KM-16. 13.32 grams. An excellent example of the last of the rounded-panel coins to be struck before the use of a rhomboid panel, all Latin lettering including the assayer-mark R, retrograde N in legends, choice rich toning with bold full details, slightly off-center strike, minor doubling on shield.
