Mexican machete, 1800s, with ornate inscription. 482 grams, 28" long. Fascinating piece with varying-width blade showing maker's mark PG and the inscription "No es el leon / Como lo pintan" (an idiomatic expression meaning the enemy is not as bad as it seems), with horn grip in the shape of an eagle's head, all intact except for piece of the eagle's beak, nicely patinated and still somewhat sharp.
